Botulin for Bruxism

Bruxism is a pathological condition caused by an involuntary contraction of the facial muscles normally used for chewing. This condition leads to teeth grinding by rubbing the two dental arches together or by clenching the jaws with excessive force.
This condition leads to several aesthetic-functional disorders:
- Direct: dental wear, wear of the temporomandibular joint, hypertrophy of the accessory masticatory muscles with facial deformation.
- Indirect: accessory muscle contractures (cervical pain),  headache, labyrinthitis, postural problems.

The masticatory muscles are NOT expressive but pure motor ones. As all motor muscles tend to become larger with their use, this condition therefore creates a vicious circle in which the pathology worsens with increasing muscle trophism.
With advanced injections inside the accessory masticatory muscles it is possible to completely cure this condition by interrupting the vicious circle of continuous use-hypertrophy - wear (functional result) and to restore balance to the face deformed by muscular hypertrophy ( aesthetic result )
